Suit up! | Style Spotlight: Work Wear

Hey lovelies,

I'm back with another post from my Style Spotlight series! I'm really enjoying writing these so I'm so glad you're all loving them and asking for more! This post is all about how to absolutely NAIL the workwear trend, so whether you want to take inspiration from this and incorporate some of my picks into your work wardrobe, or you just fancy smartening up your day to day looks, I hope you find this really useful! Warehouse* have some beautiful office-appropriate pieces in right now, be sure to check out their Workwear Edit for some really gorgeous tailoring and blouses.

Dress To Impress
Trying to stay cool in these hot summer months but still look office appropriate can be a tough combo to get right. Choose floaty silhouettes, and light cottons or linens for the perfect summer dress that you can wear to the office AND the pub beer garden! This nude number from H&M is a really simple print and a cute midi length too. The little side slits give it a bit more shape, and the colour could easily transition into the colder months, with a tee or polo neck layered underneath.

This Striped Cotton Midi from Warehouse is such a chic option for the office. The ruched neckline is so classy, and the belt really sharpens up the whole silhouette. Very Blair Waldorf.
A tea dress is a fab, transitional piece throughout the year, I tend to stick to neutral colours or florals that work year round with tights and a leather jacket in the colder months, or with a simple pair of sandals in the summer. This Floral Zara dress is no exception, the ruffle hem is really flattering and the A-line shape will keep you cool as a cucumber.

Slider Stylin'
Sliders are the perfect summer shoe (providing everyone's given their tootsies some TLC!) and there are some really cute and sophisticated options that are fab for the office. These canary yellow beaded beauties from H&M have a slight block heel on them, and they'd look gorgeous with some really sharp cut suit trousers. These red gingham bow mules from Warehouse are potentially the most adorable shoes I've seen, and I'd wear these to work or on a glam holiday to the Greek Isles!

These rope covered mules also from Warehouse are one part sailor, one part sassy and I LOVE them! Chunky flat's are my go-to in summer, cause feet can get tired and sweaty, and the thicker sole provides support and still gives them room to breathe! Finally these sweet little H&M floral slides are really girlie, and they'd look so fab paired with a flowing midi dress or some culottes.

In the Blaz(er)ing Squad

I feel like throwing on a blazer just releases my inner Girlboss, I just love how sophisticated and powerful it makes me feel. All three of the above blazers have three-quarter length sleeves which makes them that little bit more wearable too. The colour of this gorgeous mustard blazer from Bershka just calls to me. It's the perfect way to smarten up an otherwise casual outfit and it's just so FUN! I absolutely love the combo of a bright, razor sharp blazer and a graphic tee. So fetch.

Pastel's will just never go out of style, and this powder blue River Island blazer is something I could have seen my mum wearing in the 80's, which I think is part of it's charm. The crepe material of this one is so lightweight, and gives it a really luxe feel. It would be perfect as a co-ord as shown, or paired with a killer LBD and heels.

I'm slightly biased in picking this last blazer as I actually already own it! It's from Stradivarius, and I feel is the perfect blazer for those that haven't dabbled much with blazers or sharp tailoring, as tee shape of this one is much softer and casual. I love the side splits too, they give it a really chill, dressed-down feel. I love pairing it with a simple cami and some distressed mom jeans!

So will you be channelling your inner Girlboss any time soon? Are you working the work-wear trend in or out of the office? Or both?! Let me know in the comments below.

  1. Loving this post! I started a office job just last month and I've been loving building up my workwear wardrobe. I recently got a basic midi dress from Bershka and find it so handy to chuck on when I don't want to think too much about what to wear!
