I'm sure it comes as no surprise to any of you that I, Izzy am a makeup hoarder. I sound like I should be at an Addicts Anonymous meeting with that last sentence...
Anyway, I recently went to Florida with my family and bought a few beauty products I'd had my eye on - AKA anything from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I also used my Boots points back in the UK on a couple of bits from Maybelline.
So here are my faves:
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Light/Medium - £39.99
2. Becca Cosmetics & Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop - $38
3. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira - $21 (bought in US)
4. MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy - £15.50
5. Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Pallette - £.9.99
I have been dreaming about the ABH contour kit since it first appeared on Youtube early this year, and about 9 months later my baby has arrived! (Not
a real baby, I was just trying to be clever again.) Seriously though,
the shades in the light-medium kit are so workable and easy to use,
they're nicely pigmented and hold up well through out the day, but don't
come across at all chalky or patchy on the skin. Perfect if you're new to contouring but want to invest in a high end product that will last!
If you've not heard the buzz about the Becca highlighters then I really do question if you've been living under a rock.
Joking, but there's SO much hype about this product so I was interested
to try it for myself. The packaging is actually quite simplistic, but
the product itself is so beautifully shimmery and it looks incredible on
the skin. It is definitely a 'little goes a long way' product so you
can build it up depending what look you're going for. Love love love!
Now
like my first two favourites, the Kat Von D liquid lipstick was
purchased in America, however whilst you can buy the others online in
the UK for a similar price, this product is so much more expensive over here. Sort it out Kat.
That being said it is a beautiful crazily pigmented lip colour, with a
staying power like no other considering how dark it is. Obviously it's
not the most wearable shade, it comes out as a very dark red with brown undertones, but it's a great Vampy shade, like the name suggests.
Next, for a more everyday lip colour, is the classic
blogger favourite, Velvet Teddy by MAC. I love nude lipsticks, and this
one definitely suits a lot of skin tones too. If you're noticing a
trend in lip products then, yep you're right, I am a lipstick junkie/hoarder and I'm not stopping any time soon! #SorryNotSorry
I'll
start off by saying that this Maybelline palette is great value for
money. As good as I think the MUA shadow palette's are for £4 a pop;
this palette, standing at £6 more is completely worthy of that extra bit
of cash. The packaging is simple but sleek, and the collection of
shadows within it are all so wearable and pigmented, with a great
selection of good quality matte colours too. (Matte's are something I usually find to be sub-par
in drugstore products). They hold well throughout the day and don't
seem to crease noticeably, over a bit of Urban Decay's primer potion/MAC
paint pot/concealer - whatever floats your boat really.
Ok
so you can probably tell that I love burgundy and purples as autumn lip
colours by now, but this Maybelline lipstick might just be my new
favourite! Up till now my go-to dark lippie was the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick
in 107, and two tubes later I have found its rival. The Maybelline one
has such a creamy consistency considering it has a matte finish, and
survived lunch at Pret รข Manger and a Starbucks, with practically no noticeable smudging or colour loss. Maybe it is Maybelline..
